District of Columbia Bracelet

The District of Columbia Bracelet depicts L’Enfant’s 1792 plan with the strategic placement of key buildings based on changes in elevation and the contours of waterways.

It lays out the distribution of the city into diamonds and squares with divergent avenues converging at various points to create public spaces, which today are civic stages for the public. Notice how the main streets intersect at the Capitol building, the people’s representative body, an egalitarian choice in contrast to European avenues intersecting in the king's bedroom.

It is hand-etched and hammer formed with a slight flare for a comfortable fit. Each piece is completely unique.
